Hail, Mother of God, Virgin full
of grace! From you has shown forth the Sun of Justice, Christ our God,
shining upon those who are in darkness. Rejoice also, you just Elder,

Today's Scripture |
|
|
|
Exodus 13:1-2 - The LORD said to Moses, "Consecrate to me all the
first-born; whatever is the first to open the womb among the people of
Israel, both of man and of beast, is mine." |
|
|
|
Isaiah 6:6-8 - Then flew one of the seraphim to me, having in his
hand a burning coal which he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he
touched my mouth, and said: "Behold, this has touched your lips; your
guilt is taken away, and your sin forgiven." And I heard the voice of
the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then I
said, "Here am I! Send me." |

Isaiah 19:19-20 - In that day there will be an altar to the LORD in
the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to the LORD at its border.
It will be a sign and a witness to the LORD of hosts in the land of
Egypt; when they cry to the LORD because of oppressors he will send them
a savior, and will defend and deliver them. |

Hebrews 7:14-17 - For it is evident that our Lord was descended from
Judah, and in connection with that tribe Moses said nothing about
priests. This becomes even more evident when another priest arises in
the likeness of Melchiz'edek, who has become a priest, not according to
a legal requirement concerning bodily descent but by the power of an
indestructible life. For it is witnessed of him, "Thou art a priest for
ever, after the order of Melchiz'edek." |

Luke 2:22-32 - And when the time came for their purification
according to the law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to
present him to the Lord (as it is written in the law of the Lord, "Every
male that opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord") and to offer
a sacrifice according to what is said in the law of the Lord, "a pair of
turtledoves, or two young pigeons." Now there was a man in Jerusalem,
whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, looking
for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it
had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death
before he had seen the Lord's Christ. And inspired by the Spirit he came
into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do
for him according to the custom of the law, he took him up in his arms
and blessed God and said, "Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in
peace, according to thy word; for mine eyes have seen thy salvation
which thou hast prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for
revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to thy people Israel."
