Description

That's yours truly leading the Bishop with candle as he incenses. Liturgy was completely in Church Slavonic. Pic is a bit dated, but, I think, worth posting.
In Christ, Dn. Robert

Great picture! What an honor it must have been. Looks like a beautiful interior - nice iconography, carvings, (stained glass) windows!

The picture is nice - thanks for posting it! But might I inquire what, precisely, is the moment illustrated by the photograph? If Bishop Milan is doing the incensation immediately before the Enarxis, His Grace - who serves very well as a rule - knows full well that it is for the Deacon, not the Bishop, to do that incensation. If this is the Bishop's incensation immediately after the Little Entrance, then the Deacon would properly be carrying the Dikerion or Trikerion, not a single candle.
In Greek usage, the Bishop often offers an incensation immediately before the Great Entrance - in that case, two Deacons or two Priests, carrying the Dikerion and Trikerion, properly lead the Bishop.
Fr. Serge

Since Vladyka Milan is holding the hand cross--which isn't usual for this censing either--I'm wondering if he packed light on his trip from Ukraine and did not bring a zhezl or trikirion and dikirion. If that was the case, it might explain why our good deacon is carrying a single candle! We often have to improvise with what is on hand, especially during liturgical celebrations. Dave

Ah, but the senior Deacon is also, ex officio, the MC!
