Must be from last year during Pentecost, as there is no Plashchanica on the altar.
Ung Correct. It was June 10th of last year.

No matter when they were taken, they are beautiful! Thanks for sharing. I wish I had something, but our church meets in a chapel of a local RC church. We can't even have incense. It would set off the fire alarms, I believe.

What Jurisdiction does your church belong to?
What style of Iconography is in your church? It looks somewhat Westernized.

Western Style Icons made their way into just about every mainstream Church. Hopefully they'll be making their way out.

Слава Ісусу Христу!
Attractive. No one complains about pictorial stained glass? If you have money to burn replace it all. Better good art than good works?

I have to agree with Mykhayl. While it would be ideal to see all of our temples divested of ecclesiastically "foreign" influences, some are more bothersome than others and, in the great scheme of things, some are more practically replaced. The costs associated with replacing an iconostasis are substantial and smaller parishes are unlikely to be able to meet these in the short run.
Considering that there are temples that do not even have an iconostasis, I would suggest that the beautifully woodworked one seen here, if the images do not detract from the worshipfulness or spirituality of the parishioners, can wait another day or time. While the images portrayed are not in our "style" or "tradition", they do depict Holy Ones and that latter is of greater import than the former.
Many years,
Neil, who treasures traditional iconography

Neil, who treasures traditional iconography As much as I would like to see new Icons on our screen, let alone a whole new Iconostas, the unfortunate reality is that neither will ever happen. The parish is down to about 50 people, the neighborhood is declining, and who knows what the next 5 to 10 years hold in store.
