It looks like it says something on the back of the Royal Doors. "Pull To Open"?! Dave

Having served there on many diaconal retreats, they indeed say pull to open. Although I have never seen Holy Doors that open outwards, so one wonders why the instruction is necessary.

Oh, by the way, you can see that the priest here isn't wearing the sticharion under his phelonion and epitrachelion. I was just discussing this in another thread and asked the question why this seems to be customary/common among Melkites and Antiochians, but isn't seen nearly as much in the Greek and Slavic world (though I did note that in the funeral procession of Abp. Christodoulos of Athens that the priests weren't wearing sticharia (pl?). Is there a reason for this? I feel I must be missing something very obvious.
Alexis Dear Alexis, I'm sure that if the priest were serving the Divine Liturgy, he would be wearing a sticharion under his phelonion. It is universal Orthodox practice for a priest to wear a sticharion when serving the Divine Liturgy. It matters not whether he is Antiochian, Greek, Russian , Ukrainian, Serbian, or whatever. Surely he is serving Great Vespers or Orthros, services where the priest dons a phelonion over his rasson (riassa) and epitrachelion. Fr David Straut
