Description
Glory to Jesus Christ! Here are some pictures of the renovation going on from my old parish in Erie. This year Metropolitan Basil will be celebrating a rededication of the parish and will consecrate the Holy Table and bless the icon screen.

The iconographer and woodworker are still completing the second tier of the icon screen and hopefully it will be installed in the next weeks.

Fr. Andrew has done a terrific job with this parish. When I started attending a few years ago the icons of Christ and the Theotokos sat on stands like many other parishes, there were side altars, a baldachino and a podium that rose from the floor by a motor. The parish nonetheless needed some updating. Fr. Andrew has completed a great deal of work and there are still more to accomplish. So far he has added the icon screen, had the Holy Table, Vesting Table, Table of Preparation, Tetrapod and others to match the icon screen, he added domes on the exterior of the building and much more.

Sorry, my captions are off, move all of the captions to the left one picture. The final picture is of Fr. Andrew, the Pastor, the Bishop Donald Trautman (Roman Catholic Bishop of Erie) who gave the homily at the Feast of the Entrance of the Theotokos, and Msgr. Biebel the rector of St Peter Roman Catholic Cathedral in Erie who also as faculties in the Ruthenian Metroplia.

You can visit the parish website here http://www.eriecountybyzantines.org/default.htm
This link also contains the information for the other Parish in Erie County that Fr. Andrew Serves, SS Cyril and Methodius. Take a look at the gallery section for SS Peter and Paul, there are some pictures in each gallery that show the progress over the past year or so. The Parish has been going through this renovation process for about 3 or so years now.

It is interesting to note that Msgr. Biebel claims part of his accepting the call to his vocation was from the priests at the Byzantine Parish whom he came to know quite well.

Consecration of the Holy Table

Hierarchical Vespers

Metropolitan Basil celebrated Hierarchical Vespers, with Consecration of the Holy Table and a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy with a blessing of the Icon Screen during the Rededication of the Parish on the weekend of June 20-21, 2009.

I was not able to make it to Vespers, but I was there for the Divine Liturgy and it was wonderful. There was also a great meal afterward. Our own poster, Fr. Valerian served as Master of Ceremonies and did a wonderful job I might add.
