Ray,

Was thinking of the Mastrobertes yesterday as I passed through Stroudsburg, regretably without time to stop.

Thanks for this picture - it's great! I was actually going to zoom the other to see a bit of the detail of this, now I don't need to do so.

Many years,

Neil

For anyone wondering, Khatch Cross or Khatchk'ar translates as Stone Cross and represents an historic type of Armenian monument (they have occasionally been compared to the more familiar Celtic Cross).

It would be nearly impossible to include the detail found in their more traditional styling in one formed of metal and used to surmount a cupola. However, this version nicely suggests the traditional one from which it's derived. One of the Armenian Catholic parishes in either the US or Canada has a nicely done modern one on its website, but I can't remember which parish.

Our brother, Subdeacon Ghazaros includes a photo at his great website Looys Kreesdosee - scroll down. More elaborately carved ones can be seen here

Many years,

Neil
