Description
I found these historical photos in the Holy Savior Convent, Mother House of the Basilian Salvatorian Order (BSO), Melkite congregation, in Saida (Sidon), Lebanon.

I do not know if you have them already in USA.

Fr. Michael Azmar, who I do not remember where is in the photo, is still alive and very well (there's photo-bonus of him today grin) . He is very nice and speaks English in a clear American accent.

Thank you for these, Philippe. I think I might have seen the one of the procession previously, but not the other.

In the newer photo, is that, perhaps, Father Michel Zammar? Although I haven't seen him for many years (and he wouldn't remember me), I can see a resemblance. If so, he was indeed one of the early members of the monastic community at St Basil's - in fact, I believe that he was not yet ordained a presbyter when he came to the US to assist in setting up the seminary (late 1953 or early 1954).

Many years,

Neil

The 2 other photos would have been taken on May 30, 1954. There was no Exarch for the US at the time (it would be another decade before the first, Sayedna Justin, of blessed memory, was named).

I'm pretty sure that the priest on the Cardinal's left is Father (later Grand Archimandrite of Antioch) John (Jadaa), BSO, who was then Superior of the Salvatorian Community in Methuen.

Many years,

Neil

Precisely! Sorry, having known much people in a short time made me mix some names. grin

In fact, I have asked about you - for him and to the another Fr. Michael BSO, an American, who had started being a Salvatorian in USA and after have gone to the Mother-House in Lebanon. He has been a long time there. Maybe he's in his 60s today. But neither of both have remembered you.

And thank you for the another correction. I was not pretty sure about the "Exarch".

Philippe,

Father Michel (Zammar) might recognize me if he saw me or remember me as one of the security officers from the Cathedral, I doubt very much that he would remember me by name.

As far as the other Father Michael, I don't think that he's anyone whom I know. I can't remember anyone who began their seminary here, then went to Saint Saviour, and didn't return - I'll have to ask around and see if anyone here in Boston remembers who that might be.

The only other American Salvatorian over there who comes to mind is Father Ross (Frey); last I heard, which was a couple of years ago, he was not well.

Many years,

Neil
