Description
|
The picture is from the Carpatho-Rusyn display, sponsored by St. Michael's Church at the Binghamton, NY Roberson Museum's annual "Home for the Holidays "exhibit. The exhibit showcases Christmas traditions from the various ethnic communities found in the greater Binghamton, NY region. The replica church was made in the 1930's and was used by the 'Bethlehemers' who would go from home to home bringing news of the Nativity to the faithful singing traditional carols/kol'adyj of the Carpatho-Rusyns prior to the commencement of the Midnight Complines and Matins of the Nativity. Off to the right is a depiction of the traditional Holy Night Supper/Svatyj Vecer shared by many Slavic traditions.
