Description
All of those in the picture are vocations from St. Michael's in Binghamton, NY. There was a special joy during the celebration of the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ at St. Michael's in Binghamton, NY. Sharing in the Complines of the Nativity and the Divine Liturgy on Christmas were six parish vocations. Participants included from left to right:

Seminarian Matthew Dutko, a graduate of SUNY Buffalo, is in his first year of theological studies at Christ the Saviour Seminary. Archdeacon Michael Suvak, a graduate of St. Vladimir's Seminary, was ordained to the diaconate 17 years ago and serves at the Cathedral of the Holy Virgin Cathedral in New York City. Fr. Jim, a graduate of Bucknell University, Syracuse University and Christ the Saviour Seminary, was ordained by the late Bishop John in 1972, and has served at St. Michael's since 1991. Deacon Charles Ellis, a late vocation and graduate of the Diocesan Diaconate Program, who was ordained by the late Metropolitan Nicholas January 19, 2011, is the parish deacon. Subdeacon and Seminarian William Bennett is a collegiate level student at Christ the Saviour and is completing his senior year in Secondary Education at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Reader George Ellis, a graduate of SUNY Oneonta, is employed by the Boys and Girls Club in Binghamton and will enter the diocesan seminary this fall.

Additional vocations from St. Michael's serving the Orthodox Church include: His Grace, Bishop Michael (Dahulich) of the OCA New York, New Jersey Diocese; Protopresbyter Lawrence Barriger, St. Michael's Orthodox Church in Freeland, PA; Very Rev. Thomas Kadlec, St.Mary's Orthodox Church in Cheektowaga; Very Rev. Ronald Kovac, St. Mary's Orthodox Church, Dickson City, PA; Fr. Michael Ellis, SS. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Mansfield, OH; and Fr. Deacon Lazarus Muska, St. Mary of Egypt Orthodox Church, Norcross, Georgia.

(Fr. Michael Ellis and Reader George Ellis are sons of Deacon Charles Ellis. Sub-deacon William Bennett is Deacon Charles' grandson. Seminarian Matthew is the grandson of the late Fr. Stephen Dutko and nephew of Fr. James Dutko.)

What a great photo, David! And what an incredibly impressive roster of men serving the Churches!

It would be remiss to not note that Matthew, the handsome young seminarian on the left, is David's son and Father Jim, the current pastor, is David's brother.

May St Michael's continue to be blessed with vocations such as these. (Your Dad, of blessed memory, must be looking down with no small measure of deserved pride in having pastored a parish that was able to give so many to God's service, including both a son and a grandson, to say nothing of the parish cantor biggrin .)

Many years,

Neil

St Michael's parish must certainly receive many blessings and graces from the Paraclete!
