Walk for Life West Coast 2012
Glory to Jesus Christ! Fr Aris Metrakos of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church SF offering the invocation at Walk for Life West Coast 2012. I think this is the first time an Orthodox priest has given the invocation. May there be an even higher Orthodox

Description
The Walk for Life West Coast was moved to a new location this year-- Civic Center directly in front of City Hall. We've outgrown our previous location at Justin Herman Plaza. smile That also meant our Walk route changed putting us walking down Market Street, the main street through downtown SF. The route was only about half the length of our previous route but clearly very high visibility. Not that that mattered for local news which gave no cover on one channel and minimal coverage on the three other channels, after major stories about mud at Candlestick Park and a beer shortage last year for the game...

Thanks for posting these, Marylouise. Looks as though it was a good turnout.

Many years,

Neil

Estimates min. 40,000.
I have a couple more photos of Orthodox off the photoblog I'll put up later. Also, Fr. Anthony of St. Basil's Los Gatos if I can retrieve that from my phone camera. smile

Listening to the Catholic radio live coverage I heard the commentator Teresa Tomeo say "ByzanTEENs for Life" as they apparently walked past. smile I did not hear Met Jonah so I'm not sure that portion, at the conclusion of the March, aired but hopefully someone caught him on their cell phone and will post on YouTube.
