"The original patriarchate of Antioch was the syriac one, but when the syriacs became herethics or monophisite after the council of Chalcedon the syriacs were rejected by the Orthodox (Catholic) Church."

We were never heretics...same doctrine, different expression. One incarnate nature of God the Word and all that jazz...just ask Saint Cyril!

"The syriacs or jacobite were isolated until a big group of them established full communion with the pope of Rome (If I'm not wrong the syriac catholic church is now bigger than the jacobite!)."

I don't think so. I think I heard that the SOC was bigger than the SCC, and that even the Syro-Malankara Catholic Churh was bigger than the SCC. And it's generally not correct to refer to the Syrian Orthodox as Jacobites...it implies that they were founded by Saint Jacob Burdana, which they weren't.

Yes.
You're right.

It's true, the other churches call them "monophisite" and this is not correct, cause if i'm not wrong the syrians, armenians and copts follow the doctrine of Dioscorus (in that case they must be called dyplophisite?).

It's interesting that during the council of Chalcedon the copts and the syriacs didn't want to stay there because they said that council was full of nestorianism.

In fact there's not a big difference between the catholic-orthodox and the oriental-orthodox. We should forbide the words "anathema sit" and those things for ever.

Dear jc Lev,

The Syriacs, Copts, Armenians, Ethiopians, Assyrian Orthodox and Indian Orthodox all venerate St. Dioscoros, the nephew of St Cyril of Alexandria, as a Saint and Doctor of their Church.

They are all "Miaphysite" or "Henophysite." We are called "Dyophysite" or "Two Natures."

But this terminology is an old one and cannot really and sensibly be used today, at least I don't think so.

The Ecumenical Commissions between these Churches have demonstrated that there is no real difference between them with respect to Christology.

God bless,

Alex
