I found this site today on my explorations...should come in real handy...

the Bible answer thing seems to take you someplace else, but even at that the questions are good. It leaves one with qptions of thought for exploring.

Dear Pani Rose,

Christ is risen!

imho:

My experience sharing the gospel with JW's was exasperating. It's like their brain is locked tight. I'd show them John chapter 1 on Jesus being the eternal Word of the Father and they don't blink an eye. Then they bring out their phoney-boloney translation of scripture that says Jesus is "a god."

I avoid them. I hear that a few JW's have returned to the true faith. It must be the direct intervention of the Holy Spirit.

I don't know how to bring Christ to JW's except as Mother Teresa says: "...good example and prayers."

I don't believe that my vocation includes preaching to JW's. I tried. God loves them. He will seek out His lost sheep.

NOTE: The reference you cite is important because it can help Catholics avoid being led astray by JW's.

Just my experience and opinion.

God bless you,

Paul

I explored this site further and would warn folks to be wary of it; it has several tables "disproving" Christ's Divinity, a page dedicated to descriptions of Vatican orgies during the middle ages among other things.

Yeah, I did the same and I can't for the life of me figure out just what this guy's agenda is. It seems like he just hates religion in general.

I love how he poached the "Catholic Heresies" table from Boettner's infamous Roman Catholicism and didn't bother to credit it. It's almost word for word.

I made a big mistake. I gave an endorsement for a web site I haven't read. Whatever the content of that web site I can't comment on it.

I apologize.

I have read pamphlets about JW's. They are about the errors of the cult. These can be found at Catholic bookstores.

As a former JW I find this line interesting.

Yes to come to true understanding there has to be direct intervention by the holy spirit. Thier core flaw is that they believe themselves to be the only true religion in Christ. This makes them a false christ. All thier flaws stem from this point. Thier flaws prevent additional understanding.

Christ said to become child like so one could learn. Closed minded persons don't grasp new ideas.

I checked out that site in question. There is truth, logic, and misconception. A man put his life's ideas on the web. One needs to be able to 'seperate wheat from tares'.

What I am going to say is hard... so please don't be upset at what you are reading. God has healed me and helped me to understand. I apologize in advance if I upset anyone with what I am telling or saying.

It was very hard a number of years ago, a very good friend and I were taking our children for their yearly shots, she was a JW. God had allowed me to spend a lot of time with her and I baby sat often and Andy(a little girl) were very close. Unfortuatley we were in a very bad accident in which her daughter was killed. Through a series of events the Lord let me know that in His mercy He had allowed me to be the one it happened to. You see, three times she had opened the door on her grandparents while they were driving, Andy was only 18 months old, the forth time she opened the door I was the driver, and the one who ran over her. I want to tell you this to let you know what the Lord told me. Our LOrd in His mercy let me know that she would die very young after the fact, but He let me know that in His mercy He allowed it to happen to me, because I was surrounded with such a crowd of witnesses...I mean those of our faith community of ST. Josephs in Toronto Ohio, and people in general who love, knew, and served Him. The fact that we had a strong relationship with Jesus and knew the love of God. That God in His mercy allowed it to happen me because they did not know Him. It whould have destroyed them, and not given them the time necessary to come to the saving knowlege of Jesus Christ. I am ok, I still think of her, but I know she is with the Lord.

I don't know what happened to them. I know that God had made the way for me, right down to the accident happening on the street where our husbands worked. When I got out of my car, Fr. Denny Gang from the Franciscan University of Steubenville was behind me in a car. When they took me into the store where her husband worked to wait for my husband, a Russian Orthodox Priest(considering we are Ruthenians, that was pretty neat) was walking out of the door..he stayed with me, a woman stayed on the sidewalk holding me and praying with me in between everything else...

All I know is God told me He loved me...and they needed the time to come to know Him. I so pray that somehow, somewhere along the way they have become Christians, so all of the suffering was not in vein. Their names are Doloris and Elmer, their other daughter is Amy, if you would say a prayer for them.

Rose,

what a tragic event! Having lost a child, I think that grief must be less than what you suffered in this. I will certainly pray for that family, and for you, that God continue to help keep you in peace.

Please accept a great big cyber-bear hug from me as a down payment on the real thing when we next get to see each other.

Ed that brought a great big smile to my face.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers for them, they were very sweet people. I know it was so hard on them. He had been raised Methodist, so I had always prayed that he would bring her and her parents back to his church that he grew up in.

Ed did the massage help any with your leg?

ED, you will never believe this! WE have another Ruthenian Deacon here, Fr. Deacon Paul. Havn't got it all figured out yet. He is a friend of one of the priests at Hanceville, at Mother Angelica's, and his friend had asked him to consider moving here and continuing his work. He is from the Pasaic Diocese I think. Will email you more later. BUT ONLY HEAVEN KNOWS WHAT IS HAPPENING biggrin

Dear Pani Rose...

From the little I do know of these things you are very right.

My wife is a sweet heart - and as things would have it - when people have died in our family - somehow it was always Cathy who was there at the very moment of their death - holding their hand. Easing them ‘over’. Many times, as coincidence would work it out, it would just be her and the person dying because for some reason anyone else who was there would take just that moment to leave the room for some reason. She is not pleased at this but I told her that she was not there - for herself. She was there because God considered her the ‘best person for the job’. A kind of ‘compassionate mediator’ between the person and the fear of the unknown frontier of death.

God would ‘ease them over’ himself but to reveal himself to them can be a shock - and they do know him well as Providence. So what he does is to select someone to be his human nature - someone the dying person will accept - someone in whom He knows that this person will allow Him to use their hands, their words, their human presents - to convey his own. Someone in whom he has very little trouble acting. Someone who is transparent for him.

You are indeed an apple of God’s eye that he would use you this way - His knowing that your faith would not falter or fail. If he would have told you about it before hand you would have refused him. But when it was already upon you he sent his little ways of surrounding you with signs of his supporting you that only you would notice. You need not have consciously known at the time - but they would have done in you what was intended.

Now <smile> just tell Him that “next time you can pick someone else” <smile> He has a sense of humor - he created me.

I will see you in heaven Pani Rose. Where all that He has done will be made clear to us and we shall marvel at His -always- tender compassion. Please mention me in your prayers.

Dear Pani Rose and Ray,

How wonderful and uplifting to hear the two of you share your faith! The gifts of the Holy Spirit are very evident in your writing! Ray, your wife must be very special indeed, for it takes a person who is not afraid of death to truly console the dying. Only those of deep prayer are unafraid of death, and can even say they look forward to it, in Christ, that is.

marvelling at the grace of Our Lord, Tammy

Rose,

I have to admit to being intially VERY skeptical of the massage therapy. For that matter, I still have some nagging questions, but I can't argue with the results. Today was my last session, and I couldn't be more happy with the fantastic job that the therapist did.

I look forward to your e-mail.

I just received this link to a news article about a convert to the Church from the Jehovah's Witnesses:

http://www.wisinfo.com/sheboyganpress/news/archive/feat_15995880.shtml

This person will be on the "Journey Home" program on EWTN this week. Should be an interesting program.

Just started putting an article online entitled:

A Catholic Critique of Jehovah\'s Witnesses

It's from a booklet which has been out of print for quite awhile but is a good presentation on the subject.

It's not completed and more will be added later.
