I just naturally assumed that this forum would be used to contemplate on each Sunday's readings. Well, nothing has developed yet, so I will start.

This Sunday's readings are:
1Corinthians 4:9-16
Matthew 17:14-23

The one predominant thing that strikes me in contrasting these two readings is the immaturity of the apostles in the gospel contrasted to Christ's sobriety, and the sobriety of the apostles in the epistle contrasted to the immaturity of the Corinthians. I guess it has always been like this.

Like knowledge, a little religion is dangerous. With prayer and fasting, the humility and humiliation of Christ is realized: "The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him, and the third day He will be raised up. And they were exceedingly sorrowful."

How do these readings speak to you at this time?
