Dear Friends,

I wear a Cross visibly when I teach religion to high-schoolers on Saturdays.

Now others wear such Crosses.

Just a note to confirm that we're doing nothing wrong i.e. against the tradition of our Eastern Church!

Alex the scrupulous (don't want the bishop to get mad at me if there is a problem with this)

Dear Friends,

Thank you very much for approving of this practice!

Silence gives consent, after all . . . smile

What kind of Cross are you refering to? I see no problem wearing a Baptismal Cross exposed. Wearing a Pectroal Cross is another matter.

Dear Father Deacon,

Well, a larger bronze Cross - not a pectoral one, but a larger one.

Well, if it wouldn't be confused with a Pectoral Cross, I don't see a problem. Best to ask your spiritual father, however.

Cross wearing is great. Everyone is doing it. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. The more crosses the better!

many years ago, my Aunt Joyce (+eternal rest) made one of her visits to Europe and brought me back a Greek Cross. I would wear this Cross when I would serve as lector in Catholic and Protestant churches. unfortunately, the leather strap has long since given way, and the Cross and all is in an envelope. the previous post about wearing the Cross when serving as a religious teacher brought this back to memory. a couple of years ago, I recieved a lapel Slavonic Cross from a Ruthenian brother, and I wear that on my Sunday going to meeting coat. while I hold that wearing a Cross is good for believers, when I see people who are not necessarily believers wearing rather ostentatious Crosses as a bauble, then I wonder about wearing Crosses at all.
Much Love,
Jonn

Dear John,

There are also those who attend Holy Communion without proper preparation, spiritual indifference etc.

That doesn't me we should stop going to Communion.

It means, Brother, that we should set an example and truly be a light unto the world!

Even though I've a darkened mind!

The somewhat larger Cross worn by a Bishop or Priest.

It is sometimes given to a Priest as an award [ Greek tradition I think ? ]
