Hello Everyone,

I was just wondering how many parishes there are out there which use both old and new calendars. Does this not create a rift in the parish? And how about the priest, how is he to hold easter matins and then two hours later go back into the middle of lent? I could see how living this way could make the pastor go either insane or numb to his surroundings.
Anyways, what do you think about this?

Ilya

Unfortunately my sister attends a parish like this where she lives.
I am ashamed to be part of a church where such stupidity exists.

That's liturgically nuts...it may be a pastoral consideration (why else would one want to do this?), but still, liturgically nuts...

Once being from that parish, I can tell you that it breeds apathy, disunion among members of the same parish, and a need to shorten services. Having a pastor that is liturgically challenged does not help either.

We should do what the old calendarist greeks do. They have it pretty good.
