I am starting my very own experiment, comparing
American fast-food vs. Greek food.

This did not start officialy as I put a bet a month ago with a friend of mine that McDonald's is harmless. So I've been eating at McDonald's 3 times per week (twice had lunch and once dinner at McDonald's) and my body weight raised from 110 kg. to 122 kg.

So now I will start eating healthy greek, home-cooked meals for 1 whole month, starting from tomorrow, plus a 10-15 min. walk at the beach per day and see the results.

Mmmm, Greek food. My mouth is watering for dolmades drizzled with lemon sauce...

BTW, I hypothesize that once you start the healthy Greek food diet combined with exercise, you'll lose weight. Just a guess...

Nice try, that is from an American film named 'Super-size Me.'

You found it!! lol.
I know it is from an american DOCUMENTARY called Super Size Me. But the film showed the bad effects of american junk food. What I'm doing is trying to show the good effects of replacing american junk food with greek diet (such as dolmades and gemista:P).

I hope you don't think it's just a copycat's work. I thought it would be nice to inspire from the documentary.

I also think that eating heathy greek food and exercising will help you loose weight. They don't fry everything like Americans do. They use olive oil and things like that. I think it is much healthier and a great idea. Hope it works for you!

Yes frying foods adds lots of calories. I am trying to loose some weight and am avoiding the fast foods except on weekends and then only as a treat. I love Greek foods.

OK *hands on hips, feet apart* who started a food topic in Great Lent? Give me 10 prostrations to the floor biggrin

Pavel,

You consider fast foods a treat?

Yuck. I consider it a punishment whenever I can't get a homecooked meal. LOL.

It depends on what we are calling fast food. If we are talking golden arches I agree but I love my fish and chips.

Well, thank God here in Greece we still have quality fast-food options. Local diners most times use olive oil and cook greek traditional food the way it should be cooked!

So does the Geico gecko... oh, wait, he likes PIE and chips, excuse me. And is he supposed to be Australian or English? Just one of the burning questions that goes through my mind in the middle of the night...

Well here in Australia with our very large Greek community good eating is not a problem. Melbourne the 'other' capital of Greece has some wonderful Greek restaurants. Souvlakis are an institution.

Pie, chips and thick gravy is very nice on a cold day.

I was talking about foods that I love, which includes Greek. The pie etc was an addition which is ideal on a cold day after the football in Melbourne (Melvournia). If it was not Greek before it is now biggrin . The benefits of living in a multicultural society.
