Dear Daniil, FYI, my doubts are only about ROME'S RECOGNITION of our Patriarchate, not about the legitimacy of our claim based on our Church's historical prerogatives. There have been other Eastern Catholic hierarchs who have joined in calling our Primate "Patriarch" in the past, and so such a thing would be nothing new. I myself attended services where this happened. I would have told you about it then, but you weren't born yet. Now you are showing your (tender) age, Big Guy. Alex

Hey, Do you guys know where I can get some pamphlets or any info packets on Eastern Catholicism? I want to hand them out to my whole group so they can learn more about the East-Side and hopefully go to a couple of Liturgies during World Youth Day. Thanks in advance!

Glory to Jesus Christ! This is really sad news. New taken from YourCatholic.com [hr] 6,000 World Youth Day Applicants Denied Visas TORONTO, Jul 10, 02 (LSN.ca/CWNews.com) - The Canadian government is refusing entry visas to 6,000 young people hoping to attend World Youth Day with Pope John Paul II starting July 23. The number reportedly represents a 25 percent rejection rate among international visa applicants hoping to be here for the Pope's visit. The rejections primarily affect students and other youth from the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Colombia, Uganda, and Sudan. "The message is the Canadian government is not welcoming youth to World Youth Day," says Joe Byrne, Prince Edward Island regional coordinator. But Immigration Department officials say the government cannot grant special treatment to any applicant, out of concern that bogus applicants may use WYD to get into Canada and then disappear into the community. Media are reporting that 200,000 delegates from 165 countries are registered for World Youth Day, "far less" than the 750,000 "originally anticipated."[hr] IC XC NIKA, -Nik!

Glory to Jesus Christ! Daniil, that is true. I am at the group at Holy Eucharist, so I'll be there ever morning Tuesday through Sturday at 8am. My housing is at Cosburn MS. here is some scary news that someone just posted at the forum at http://YourCatholic.com ------------------------------------------------------------ ANGLICAN DIOCESE DISASSOCIATES FROM PARISH CONTRIBUTING TO ANTI-CATHOLIC WYD EFFORT Speakers at Anti-Catholic Event Include Those Advocating Violence Against Churches TORONTO, July 16, 2002 (LSN.ca) - In an ecumenical-relations nightmare, a prominent Anglican parish in Toronto is lending its church and leading services for an anti-Catholic group planning on disrupting World Youth Day. Moreover, the "Challenge the Church" group organizing the event has enlisted a known advocate of violence as a speaker. (See the Toronto Star coverage: http://www.torontostar.com/NASApp/cs/Con...path=N ews/News ) The Toronto Star reported Sunday that Anglican Holy Trinity Church, located prominently in Toronto's downtown core behind the Eaton's Centre, will host the five-day "Challenge the Church" event. According to a recent article in the dissident publication Catholic New Times, the event is being organized by the abortion-advocating "Catholics for A Free Choice Canada," the Playboy funded group denounced by both American and Canadian bishops as anti-Catholic. LifeSite has learned that one of the speakers at the event is Jaggi Singh, a well-known anarchist and advocate of violent protest. He was involved in the violent desecration of Mary Queen of the World Cathedral in Montreal in 2000. During the attack on the church pro-abortion activists were burning homemade crosses, spray painting altars and walls, blaspheming, throwing condoms and attempting to overturn the tabernacle all the while calling for the "right" to abortion. Writing in an article after the attack, Singh called the attack "re-decorations" of the church. (see LifeSite coverage: http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2000/mar/00030901.html ) In comments to LifeSite the Anglican archdiocese of Toronto disassociated itself from the actions of the parish. A spokesperson in the Toronto diocesan media office told LifeSite that "each parish is separately incorporated" and thus the diocese is "in no position to prevent it." She noted that Toronto Anglican Bishop Terence E. Findlay has told all parishes in his diocese to support World Youth Day. When asked if the diocese would see Holy Trinity's action as supporting WYD the spokesperson responded, "not at all." Holy Trinity Anglican parish in Toronto is known for its pro-homosexual activism. It's website features a working group on "homosexual and lesbian" issues boasting of participation in homosexual Pride day. ( http://holytrinitytoronto.org/justice/ ) For the "challenge the church" program, please see: http://www.challengethechurch.ca/pages/Alternatives.html Mr Singh's writings on the desecration of the Catholic Cathedral in Montreal: http://www.infoshop.org/news5/montreal2.html http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2002/jul/02071601.html ------------------------------------------------------------ [ 07-19-2002: Message edited by: Nik ]

That is awful. If violence errupts we must retaliate with non-violence, prayer, and fasting.
It often makes me very angry that these people think they are doing the right thing by desecrating churches and preaching abortion and homosexuality. I am no model Christian to be telling them what to do, but if they just read the Bible and the Church Fathers, then everything would be great.
About the Gay Pride Parade in Toronto: it is not really a parade of homosexual pride but pride of sex and sin. It is awful.
On a more WYD note, I will be at the St. Nicholas Catechesis (one of the most beautiful Eastern Christian Churches in North America). Holy Eucharist (sorry to anyone from that parish) is a example of modern architecture. Its basic idea is great as it is symmetrical and actually quite nice, but the paitings and strange iconostasis are not very nice. However, it has a marvellous view of Toronto, and its pastor, Fr. Peter Babej and his family are great and holy people. They also have another asset: Hieromonk Richard (Soo, SJ), a lawyer and an advocate of Liturgical purity.
Daniil
