I don't under stand the Byzantine Catholic Church is so Awesome. I'm only 17 yrs old and I was raised Roman Catholic. Now that I have found out about the Byzantine rite, I wish I could just change rites now. But I was told that I have to attend the church for 2 yrs to be considered a Byzantine. I already call my self a Byzantine Catholic.
Well I think the Roman Church is really becoming more Protestant. And the church is not suppose to change as much as it has throught out the years. Also this Carismatic stuff is about crazy, it does not belong in the Catholic Church. I just don't know why some Byzantines found their way to the Carismatic Masses of the Roman Church.
Hey guys lets get a group of Byzanteens together on the web and create a Byzanteen Web site for all the teens out there. Maybe we can get more Byzanteens out there to do more stuff in the Church.
You can email at: philfelts@byantines.net
ByzanTeens RULE!! Glory be to Our Lord Jesus Christ! Glory be forever and ever!!

You might want to go here before you start a site: www.byzanteen.com It is about the 2002 Youth Rally [ 11-06-2001: Message edited by: akemner ]

phil,
I'm all with ya. I'm 18, and a recent convert to the Byzantine Catholic Church (entered Dec. 26, 2000). Maybe we could get some ideas from the byzanteen site. I started the youth group at my parish in Gilbert, AZ (and led it for 6 months) before moving down here to Tucson to go to college. Let me know what you want to do.
I understand your dismay at all the nonsense that's going on in the RCC, keep in mind that goal of Charismatic movement is give the RCC a certain spiritual "feel", that ectasy in the Holy Spirit that was always a part of Byzantine Christianity (which is why the servants of Prince Vladimir returned to him from Constantinople saying, "we don't know if we were in heaven or on earth"). If you've "The Face of God" by Fr. Joseph Raya, you have an idea of what I mean.
Yours in the Theotokos,
Darrenn

peace be with you!!!
i disagree to what you are trying to point out here. Im eumir bautista of the philippines, a 21 years old Catholic of the latin rite by birth.
i'll share a short testimony, in my late teens i've experience the emptiness in the spiritual level, i've tried to search the missing stuff in attending the mass daily and tried many sorts of prayers but with these, i cant find the meaning... until august of 1998 there was an urge with in me to attend a Youth Life in the Spirit Seminar. since that day life has life and color, the mass has an impact to me everytime i attend, still i do my best to go daily. Because of the Charismatic renewal seminar i've become active in the many ministries of the parish and i've become open to the vocation to which He calls me.
Because of this revival with in me, i want to learn more about my faith. then one day, i came to encounter the eastern churches. i've search and tried to discover the wonderful Christian tradition within it, the byzantines, coptics, maronites, etc.
but unfortunately i could not have a first hand basis of this because the Philippines has 80% Chriatians and about 80% are Catholics of the Latin rite. so do much with the internet and ewtn short discussions about the eastern catholics, especially, when our Holy Father visited Ukraine and for the first time I saw how the Divine Liturgy is presented and i found it inspiring.
So please as Christians, we must loose our thoughts in Christ Jesus. for we are all one through, with and in Him.
