I just saw the Chronicles of Narnia on Sunday with a group from my church and it was one of the most amazing films i have ever seen. I would say it was my favorite film of the year. The symbolism is so meaningful. If you are a Christian it touches you so deeply and I know people who aren't that have come out of the theather and feel completely moved. I'm so glad that we can get at least one decent movie out of Hollywood once and a while. I encourage everyone young and not so yound to see this movie. It really put my Christmas season into perspective. If you've already seen it then i think it would be great to get a discussion going.

I saw it yesterday and also thought that it's my favorite movie of the year. I can't believe that Disney put on a movie so Christian and with so many wonderful morals in it. I heard that Disney got rid of the people on their board who were trying to make Disney totally non-Christian. My friend went to Disneyland a few weeks ago and told me about banners that she saw which read "Merry Christmas" and how they were singing Christmas carols. And there were no more gay pride flags hanging up. A great improvement, don't you say?

I want to go see "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" again. I totally agree with you, Kaite, and hope to see all the Chronicle books turned into movies.

I saw it. I thought it was very touching from a Christian perspective. I wouldn't say it was the best film I've seen all year - maybe the "best" in the strict sense of the word - but not my favorite. I did very much like it, and Lucy was as cute as could be.

Also, the White Witch was intriguing...she was so evil you almost liked her. I think that's the genius of Lewis, being able to show how alluring evil can be.

I liked the movie as wel ( I went with Katie G as well Sunday). I must say my favorite thing in that movie was Edmund. I have never seen such a close parallel to my brother and to me that's heartening, cause now I have an inkling of how he'll turn out.

I have to agree with Logos Teen, though, while this was definitely a good movie it wasn't my favorite of the year. The one movie that takes that place this year was Serenity, which holds a special place in my heart for being the only sci fi I've ever seen to not have aliens in it and still be good philosophically.

I've just got to put my two cents in.
I enjoyed the movie as well and was impressed with Disney for leaving Lewis' story and themes so intact. But I also very much missed the voice of Lewis that permeates the entire book series.
Also I was disappointed with both the actor chosen to be the voice of Aslan and the portrayal of Aslan himself.
Aslan to me is such a DIVINE character that he probably can't be translated to the screen to my satisfaction. But I was disappointed with voice of Aslan, it was so HUMAN(not to mention that I dislike Liam Neeson out of principle).
Oh well, High King Peter more than made up for any other discrepancies, as did the brilliant portrayal of Jadis(she was exactly as I always imagined, except for the blonde hair, I always thought it would be black for some reason).

I thought it was an excellent film. I read the book in 4th grade maybe? possibly even 3rd, however I completely forgot how Christian the film really is. It seemed to cover all of Salvation History. The beavers were the best, and of course, Liam Neeson as the voice of Aslan.

Not my favorite move of all time, but definately in the top ten. Nothing beats Master and Commander.... ok maybe Taras Bulba!

Let me clarify: it's definately not my favorite movie of all time. Its one of my favorites for the year(along with Walk the Line). Not of all time.

got to see Narnia this past Sunday with a little old Episcopalian lady who has been lke a mother to me for decades. especially liked the battle scene, the griffins launching an aerial bombardment on the Witch's forces was remarkable. Narnia's battle scene reminded me a bit of the battle scenes in Lord of the Rings, but I lived with it. I first read the Chronicle some thrity years ago, and have been a fan of them since, and I did find the movie quite in line with the Lion Witch and Wardrobe. hope there will be more movies from the Chronicles. Oh, and during that same Christmas time in 1976, I also read Lewis' Space Trilogy.
