Quite by accident I found this manuel for Eastern Orthodox prayers. Thought it might help someone as they are praying.

Pani Rose:

Is this a reprint of a manual put out decades ago in Great Britain? I have a book printed by the Fellowship of Sts. Sergius and Alban in London that seems to have the identical Table of Contents and layout.

Bob,

This is a re-release of that book. I picked up a copy for someone at Saint Vladimir's Seminary a couple of months ago. I believe they now own the publishing rights.

Father Anthony:

Thanks for your input. Mine is getting rather brittle--I think the paper was some kind of acid paper and the glue on the spine is drying out. I have to hold it together with a rubber band. But hey, there's no use having a prayer book that doesn't get worn out! Right?

I've read that when these prayers are used with enough frequency they become like leaven in one's soul. They start to "bubble" out on their own whenever the Spirit moves one. I find when I go back to the actual prayers printed in the book that sometimes I have had them recombine themselves in my memory and practice. But they are always powerful even when I seem to pray a sentence from one with a sentence from another to form a new prayer. They are, in any event, the basis of all the prayers I find myself writing.

In Christ,

BOB

Bob and Abouna Anthony,

I was searching for something and came across it quite by accident. I didn't know google has a book search thingy - oh i am so technical - and found it quiet by accident. I kind of figured it was public domain or something.

Glory go God! He provides when we least expect it. biggrin in the most unexpected ways. Ain't HE great!!!
