From an e-mail I received:

His Holiness Patriarch Maximos V of Antioch, Alexandria, Jerusalem and All the East has had a serious stroke and is quite ill in consequence. There is still hope that the Patriarch may survive and even recover, but at the Patriarch's age the matter is cause for serious concern. Please have His Holiness in your prayers during these days, asking Almighty God, if such be His holy will, to spare the Patriarch to us for a time. Thank you in advance for your support in prayer, which will surely sustain and comfort His Holiness.

His Holiness Patriarch Maximos has been a light and inspiration to all the faithful. God grant to his faithful servant the Bishop Maximos a swift recovery, good health, and long life for many years so that he may continue to guide his flock through the turbulent but promising days that are ahead.
