In your charity, please remember my friend Mike and his mother Jean. Jean was diagnosed with cancer of the lower intestines this morning. She celebrated her 84th birthday on October 24th.

Mike has blown thru panic mode and his Mom is a little dis-oriented with all the tests and meds and stuff.

To top it all off, her daughter has been trying to get legal custody of her so that she can have control of Jean's bank accounts. The daughter has gone so far as to call Social Services and the police to report elder abuse. The police raided the house that Mike shares with his Mom at 2:00 in the morning a few weeks ago. They scared the ka-ka out of his mother...

May the Lord guard and protect Jean; may He grant remission of her cancer and make her feel secure.

May Mike be sustained in his care of his mother.

May the concern for money be taken from this terrible time in the life of this family. May the Lord grant them hearts of flesh.

As a survivor of two bouts of cancer in the last thirteen years I know the feeling well. First there is disbelief but then comes determination.

Tell Mike I will include his mom in my prayers.

Jean is scheduled to have surgery tomorrow morning. They are removing the mass in her lower intestines. They've done a series of tests and have said the mass is NOT malignant but they're afraid that it change if they do not do the surgery.

They've had 3-4 doctors in to consult and feel that this is the best way to go....

Merciful Lord, grant them your healing, and love. Let them know your presence in their lives, your peace, that they may witness to your love and compassion.

I have a friend at chruch who is fighting with siblings because of the same problem...money(and she doesn't care/need her mom's money). They have not paid any attention to their mom, she has been her sole caregiver, and now that my friend wants to place her in a wonderful nursing facility they are haveing a fit...money! Have even taken her to court, oh my! But her mom knows the truth and you can tell that she is well taken care of.

Hi everyone,

Here's an up-date....

The surgery took place this morning. I'm waiting to hear if she's in recovery or not. Mike emailed me as she was being preped. He said that if all went well, she would be out of surgery by 11:00AM EST and then off to recovery.

Surgery was cancelled yesterd due to scheduling conflict, the surgeon has previous commitment, golf I think...

Will let you all know as soon as I hear something...
