Dear Friends,
The presbytera and my wife's aunt of her uncle-priest who was buried last week asked me to say a few words at the "tryzna" or post-funeral luncheon.
A priest was there, my old parish priest, who has all sorts of titles.
After mentioning our BIshop at the beginning of my impromptu remarks, I decided to have some tongue-in-cheek fun with the Great One sitting next to him.
I mentioned as "the most Bright Reverend Mitred Archpriest, Kryloshanyn, Paroch, Protosyngellos, Doctor of Theology, Canon Law 'i proche i proche'" and the last means "and so on and so on" referring to the fact there are other titles of his that would take too long to mention by name . . .
Father lifted his head up and looked at the mourning crowd in the hall as if to say, "Yeah, that's me all right . . ."
My father-in-law drove him home and he later told me, "You know, Father REALLY loved what you said about him!"
So a word to others here who would want to push the envelope at times - unless you know what you are doing, don't even think about it!
Alex
