The Pathet Lao, Communist rulers of Laos, were as deadly as their counterpart in Cambodia during the bygone "killing fields" era.

Now, for a change of heart?

The communist government of Laos allows the ordination of 1 priest in 30 years, after all Catholic misionaries were either killed or expelled in 1975. Only one native Laotian Catholic priest was then allowed to remain, who is now the ordaining bishop, assisted by another aging native Laotian priest.

Full story here.

In a reversal of fortune, the Pathet Lao (Communist) government of Laos stops ordination of first Catholic priest in 30 years.

Sad story here.
