Great stuff! Thanks, Pani Rose!

Now we need one - "Why I am an Eastern Catholic?"

Pani,

This is a wonderful video which is very much to the point. Nothing complicated there. It is just simple truth. One is confronted with the obvious that unless Jesus abandoned His Church for some reason the Catholic Church belongs to Him.

I agree with Gordo. Perhaps it will come to exist.

My only complaints with the video are that instead of quotes from the Fathers of the Church and modern theologians, there ahould have been only biblical quotes if this was for evangelization. And, the "We Will Rock You" song was very banal, there should have been some sort of chant or hymn instead of that. (The song even had the "stomp, stomp, clap" from "We Will Rock You.")

Otherwise... there needs to be more of this going on. Get to work, Carson and Gordo!

Dr.,

We are but we are slow, or at least I am. The music is probably from Youth Day and partially explains the choice of song. It also has reference to Peter, of course.

You may be right that the use of Fathers and Doctors would whoosh by the heads of many. Yet, it does show that the Church didn't end with the death of the Apostles, a common Protestant assumption.

Thank you for posting our video!

Gordo - Though the bulk of the video has Latin Catholic images, we tried to incorporate Eastern iconography and Saints (Peter, Paul, Basil the Great). The universality of the Church, as you well know, is not circumscribed by Latin Catholicism. I hope you will considering contributing comments to our blog some time to bring the Eastern perspective.

Dr. Eric - The song for the video is the official anthem of World Youth Day 2005 and not a Queen spin-off. I quite like the music and the various languages used, and it holds a certain appeal to the young faithful.

Our intention with using the Fathers, Scholastics and modern theolgians was to emphasis the historicity and continuity of the Catholic faith. We felt that sticking exclusively to Scripture would neglect a key part of our faith--history and Tradition.

Thanks again for all of the comments!

I just loved it. You know it is one of those things, after waking up, and not being able to go back to sleep, you get busy doing things. After I came across it, and posted it, it was like ok, now I can sleep . It needed to be here I guess.

Seems to me that this young couple are converts. That also explains some of the choices they made. As for the music, it does continue to 'rock' in your head after you stop watching it. That way the message - the words - are carried forth for a while even though one is unaware of it.

I was thinking the same thing, I wish I had the capability to do something like that. If someone can give me a hint of the 'howto' or what program is needed. I wonder if I don't have it on my dad's computer.

Michael Joseph,

Great work! Out of curiosity, what software did you use for this?

God bless!

Michael Joseph,

Great work indeed!
I thought I recognized the music from WYD.

Would you give us a bit of your background? Are you cradle Catholics or converts?

Also, I sent your link to Spiritdaily, so hopefully they will post it too.

Thank you for all the kind words.

Katerina and I are "cradle Catholics", though we both had strong conversions when we were undergraduates. Katerina grew up in Venezuela, so Catholicism is really the only faith she has ever known. I grew up in Pittsburgh, so I was exposed to both Byzantine and Ukranian Catholics early on.

Katerina is a professional engineer and a theology student at Our Lady of the Holy Cross College in Lake Charles, LA. I am a teacher and college instructor (history, humanitis and Latin). Both of us will be heading back to school for graduate studies in theology.

We run a blog called Evangelical Catholicism , which consists of our reflections on various issues inside and outside the Church.

As far as producing the video, Katerina is the one to ask. I simply gathered up the images and quotes. She set it all in motion.

Ray,

Actually it is not as difficult as it looks to create a slide show or DVD presentation. I use an iMac that has some of the programs for doing this in my office (which is easier to use than a PC in creating multimedia presentations, I have a pc at home). I'm quite pleased with the results of my first few attempts, enough that I was able to create some promotional videos for our Clergy-Laity Congress.

If you have any questions, contact me.

In IC XC,
Father Anthony+

Michael I believe it is young adults, and teens that will renew the Church. Parents my age have made a terrible mess of things.

I remember getting our oldest son, who is now 30, off the bus from summer camp (Boy Scouts - he is an Eagle Scout) taking him home, letting him shower and running back to put him on the bus for WYD in Denver. Not just because of that, but many other things, you can see his great love of God.

The work you two have accomplished, and may there be many more, is a prime example of how God will use you to renew His Church.

I like the music!

Checked out the blog. It said the movie was made for a Confirmation retreat and not with evangelization in mind. It also said "Jesus Christ You are my Life," was the theme song of the 2005 World Youth Day.

Good job!
