The following is an excerpt from a Catholic News Service story.

Sounds interesting!

WASHINGTON (CNS) -- An estimated 150,000 Americans joined the Catholic Church last Easter, according to figures compiled by the U.S. Bishops' Secretariat for Evangelization.

The Stories of a few of those 150,000 will be told in an ABC-TV special slated to air on Easter Sunday, March, 27.

The hour long special is broadcast at the discretion of ABC affiliates, so interested viewers should check local listings or call their ABC affiliate about its plan to air the program. The U.S. Catholic bishops’ Web site, www.usccb.org will have posted in mid-March a list of ABC stations committed to airing the show.

I think they are, without a doubt, the most religion-friendly major network out there. For example, last year at Easter, they aired a special on the Apostle Paul.

Dear Paul:

Thanks for the reminder.

That 150,000 figure for 2004 was an estimate contained in an article first published by the Associated Press around Easter last year.(By the way, these figures always includes both East and West as in previous years.)

So, it's factual! I think there were only about 90,000 in 2003!

Add this figure to the number of infant baptisms and adult baptisms and we are off to a . . . second springtime?

Dear Paul:

The "New Evangelization" inaugurated by the Holy Father at the turn of the 3rd millenium seems to be working wonders!

May our tribe increase!

EWTN the monastery will have the gates and doors opened all night tonight for adoration for Terri. This is the way they Church will be healed, change, and grow.

I know Eucharistic Adoration as such is not part of the East except for the Vigil, while we stay awake and pray. But it is such a powerful expression of God's love for us. To give of himself to sit quietly with us and let us humbly come before him in supplication, prayer, and thankgiving.

One of the threads recently someone stated that we dont have all the monks and sisters praying for us anymore around the clock like they use too. Well there is no reason why we as layity cannot pray around the clock before our God in the Eucharist. We have to become accountable for we have not done as Church. For our leaving Christ alone on the Altar, we take him out into the world with us, but we also have the opportunity to stop by our churches and spend time with him besides DL. Then we will see Baptisms increasing in ever greater numbers.
