I converted (or reverted?) to the Catholic church this year after three years of non-denomenational Protestantism (a mouthful, I know). So, as a fired up convert, I really appreciate all of your posts! Though, I hardly think I'm a nuisance to cradle Catholics..

Furthermore I am drawn to the Eastern Traditions, not because I think that the Latin Rite is deficient (not in the LEAST!) but because of what I think might be the result of my being baptized and having spent time in my childhood in the Greek Orthodox Church.

I hope to learn more of Eastern Christian traditions here. smile

Pax vobiscum,

IN the Eastern churches I think a range of thelogical views are visible among both cradlersand newcomers. Perhaps somenewcomers are more zealouson aspects of Eastern discipline; but I have the controversial view that it is a cultural phenomenon, and I don't mean that in ethnic terms exclusively; even converts to pentecostalism try to fit the prevailing cultural stereotype; however, there is in SOME eastern rites an ethic bias, which some converts perhaps compensate for by being ULTRA conservative in praxis. That's just my view, no offence intended; I've evolved it by speaking to converts East whose attraction is theological primarliy, whereas my move East was a response to my Russian ancestry, primarily, which perhaps reflects my perspective.

Pax vobiscum,
Welcome! This surely is the place to learn the above.

Peace and blessings, smile
