CIX!
Dear all,
am panicking slightly. I've just realised the books don't indicate where in 'Let all mortal flesh keep silent' one puts the break to allow the priest to do the Great Entrance.
Can anyone help me on this? Fortunately, I still have six days till Great Saturday, being on the Julian Paschalion...
Many thanks in advance!
in Domino,
Edward

Here it is, using Fr. Ephrem Lash's translation: Let all mortal flesh keep silence, and stand with fear and trembling, and take no thought for any earthly thing; for the King of kings and Lord of lords comes to be slain and given as food for the faithful.
Here the Great Entrance takes place.
Before him go the choirs of Angels, with every Principality and Power; the many-eyed Cherubim and the six-winged Seraphim covering their faces and crying out the hymn: Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.

It varies, depending on the specific chant one uses and some other factors. A good "rule of thumb" is not to chant the Alleluia until after the Great Entrance.
There is a custom in some places for the deacon and priest to make no commemorations whatever at the Great Entrance on Holy Saturday - and since this is of considerable antiquity, it should be encouraged.

While we're at it, the replacement for the Cherubic Hymn on Great Thursday is 'Of Thy Mystical Supper', as we all know.
Where do we break (if at all) for the Great Entrance? Does one sing it entire before and once after?
Many thanks in advance, all!

Depending on the specific chant you use, I'm inclined to recommend chanting "Of Thy Mystical Supper . . ." twice before the Great Entrance and once after the Great Entrance.
