Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!

Welcome to Books. This subforum is devoted to discussing specific books regarding our Church, the lives of saints, and spirituality.

Topics are requested to be done in the following format for ease of future search and reference:

  • Thread title should be in the format of "Author Name: Book Title"
  • One topic thread per book

I anticipate some great future discussions. As I come across previous discussions on books, the thread will be moved to this forum for enhanced accessibility.

Thanks to the hard work of our Administrator for providing this new subforum.

In Christ,

Michael (Books co-moderator)

I would like to wish the moderator the best in the start of this new forum. Also I would wish that all our posters may gain some benefit from the discussions that are anticipated to take place.

In IC XC,
Father Anthony+

Dear Michael,

It is probably self-evident but I thought I might mention it for I know I would not think of it later.

It might be prudent to suggest to people that they search for a title before adding one, once we make it past one page of authors and titles where they can all be seen at a glance. That way if there is a discussion already started then they can add their comments.

I think this set-up you have here is very good because it allows for stopping and starting over time and the continuity is never really lost. Wonderful!!

Thank you and the owner.

Eli

Just noticed this new category on the Forum: Congratulations! Being an inveterate book-lover, I look forward to happy and enjoyable times with it.

One slight potential problem - some books do not have authors (say a new translation of all or part of the Bible, or a liturgical book). I trust discussion of such books will still be welcome.

Dear Incognitus,

Welcome to books! All book discussions are welcome. If a publication does not contain an author, then "Unknown:" and the book title are requested in the topic area. This will allow uniformity within the sub forum. biggrin

Great question.

As per Eli's thoughts, if a publication is posted twice, then the new thread will be merged with the original topic. I believe this will allow the researcher to more fully grasp the concept and opinions of the reviewed material.

In Christ,

Michael B.

I'm late, and I apologize. It is turning into a full busy summer for me. But let me tell you most heartily: THANK YOU for creating this forum on books. This is a welcome and needed addition to the Byzantine Forum.
