I would also recommend "Mother Angelica's Answers, Not Promises." It is a straightforward discussion of suffering, grace, and other basic elements of living the Christian life. It is both pragmatic and inspiring.

I bought the softcover edition back in the early 1990s. However, I could only find the hardcover edition on Amazon today.
