Believe it or not the subject of the Divine Liturgy and the proposed revisions do have the interest of a number of people and clergy outside of our circle of posters. I had lunch yesterday with a brother priest, and his question in reading through all that has been offered here to this point is are there any revisions to the rubrics of the proposed new liturgical text? If there are can they be elaborated on so that those that are not members of this forum may also have some insight into these changes or revisions.

Well, in my book I devoted a chapter to the matter of problems with the rubrics in the revision; perhaps Father Anthony's friend might wish to read that chapter.

Father Serge,

Unfortunately my bank account does not have the funds to be purchasing and just be handing out copies of the book. I unfortunately am not finished reading the book so I can not be loaning it out yet. This is a question that seems to be arising among some of the Orthodox clergy from various jurisdictions that I see in my daily routines and meetings. Hence the public posting for further information and feedback.

Dear Father Anthony,
You write that "my bank account does not have the funds to be purchasing and just be handing out copies of the book."

Ditto! Contrary to popular opinion the author of such a scholarly book does not receive an unlimited free supply of them for unpaid distribution to the public. And my bank account also has no need of Weight Watchers!

Sorry about that.

Fr Serge

Perhaps it is because I am not Irish? confused

He said his bank account isn't exactly overflowing, heavy, needing to lose a little weight. In other words, he said he doesn't have the money to send it either.

So it looks like Fr. Anthony's friend's next best bet is to post on a free discussion board to see if the knowledgeable posters will willingly share what they know with him. I know this board that has an entire section set aside for talking about the Revised Divine Liturgy. Your friend might like to try it out... wink

Dear Alice,
My bank account has no need of Weight Watchers because my bank account is not fat! Pity, but there it is.

Now that we have the status of Father Serge's fiscal situation resolved, can we get back to the topic at hand.

May I chip in here ?

I have been following these threads on the proposed changes to the Liturgy and have mainly refrained from posting as so far it does not affect my Church the UGCC smile

However over here I cannot seem to get my wee paws on Fr Serge's book - in which he tells us that there is a Chapter devoted to the matter of rubrics.

Now to get the book from the USA is frankly , for me , not that easy and I would be most grateful if we could be told if there are any changes in the offing.

I look forward to hearing about them

To me the Liturgy has a sense of the timeless and I am sad that this may change with alterations to language - and possibly even the rubrics.

I note that Fr Serge said

Fr Serge
For those of us who are unable to get hold of the book, please would Fr Serge or anyone else who has seen it post some of the mooted changes ?

Anhelyna who frequently says - let the education commence smile

Father Anthony,

One thing does puzzle me...why there have been no responses to your thread. This leads me to ask...Are the rubrics to the revision that secret that no one knows enough about them to discuss, or is there so little change that the average Baba in the pew won't notice? I was sure that there would be some responses.
