I don't think that the money and time invested so far should have a major bearing on the adoption of the new Liturgy.

I would rather we take a loss financially, than to adopt something that will harm our tradition.

The parish I visit will order 100 books at $12. This is $1200 in total. The priest is proposing that individuals buy a copy and dedicate it to the memory of someone they choose. I think most of them will be funded in that way. This will not be a major net expenditure for the parish. I may buy one for the parish and pick up a copy for my library.

BTW, the trashy missalettes we Latins use cost $3 per year per subscription in bulk. Considering that the liturgy is being retranslated and the issue of standards for hymns is unresolved, it's hard to justify buying either hymnals or service books.

I don't know precisely what was done durting the presbyteral days for the three eparchies, so I cannot comment save to say that some of the priests clearly do not have the idea that their questions were answered or their input even mildly welcome.

Priests in Passaic were simply told to send order numbers and money. You would think that the entire Metropolia would want to be in step with something as important as a new liturgical translation.

Also I am getting the impression from talking to catechists in PA and border states to the southwest corner, that the news concerning the August meeting for catechists to discuss the new liturgicon has not been well advertized?

Could you say a bit more about that here since you are to be a presenter? There isn't much time left to get the word out for a meeting in a little over a week. I don't know. Some simply had no idea what's going on when I asked, and then I received a couple of phone calls with the same question, 'What's going on?' Thought I'd best let you know.

I am the Catechetical Coordinator for my parish. These summer sessions are an annual event for catechists only. Notices with full information are sent directly to both the pastor and Catechetical Coordinator for every parish in the Pittsburgh eparchy.

We are then responsible for inviting our teachers. The event is always in August and generally has between forty and sixty attending.

Is this catechetical effort in Pittsburgh only for the Archeparchy? For there are religious education coordinators elsewhere in border states who have heard nothing. They thought there might have been an opportunity for them to attend since they are close by.

I agree. I think that is a reasonable price for a good Liturgy book, and I would happily donate several to the Church.

But I wouldn't spend a dime on a book that has an abbreviated Liturgy, feminist nonsense, and music turned inside out.

It's not really about the money.

A good liturgy book would be worth twice the price. A bad liturgy book is a waste of money if it is free.
