In Endicott, we have been serving an Phillipian Fast moleben weekly for several years. I, too, would be interested in what people are doing for the fast.

Father Deacon,

Can you tell us more about this Moleben? I don't think I'm familiar with it.

In Phoenix we're using the Compline service for the Philip's Fast. Last year we used the Moleben and I was very impressed by the beauty of the music and prayers. However, since our Philip's Fast service is led by a deacon candidate rather than a priest, there was a lot that had to be omitted.

Sophia, nearly every service (except the Divine Liturgy) can be adapted for use without a priest (sometimes called "Reader's Services").

Molebens, Canons and Akathists are wonderful reminders that the tradition is not static; but rather that new saints, devotions for particular feasts or times, etc. still can arise within the framework of tradition. The Akathist "Glory to God for all things" by Metropolitan Tryphon of blessed memory is another example. Many years to Archpriest Conrad Dachuk, originator of the Emmanuel Moleben we use.

I celebrate the Emmanuel Moleben every Wednesday evening during the fast, unless there is a special occasion which would be celebrated with a DL.
