Last year we used the Moleben and I was very impressed by the beauty of the music and prayers. However, since our Philip's Fast service is led by a deacon candidate rather than a priest, there was a lot that had to be omitted.

Diak Member Registered: 03/24/02 Posts: 7168 Loc: Kansas/UGCC	Sophia, nearly every service (except the Divine Liturgy) can be adapted for use without a priest (sometimes called "Reader's Services"). Molebens, Canons and Akathists are wonderful reminders that the tradition is not static; but rather that new saints, devotions for particular feasts or times, etc. still can arise within the framework of tradition. The Akathist "Glory to God for all things" by Metropolitan Tryphon of blessed memory is another example. Many years to Archpriest Conrad Dachuk, originator of the Emmanuel Moleben we use.
