Christ is Born!

Evidently, Saddam's execution is set to take place this weekend (possibly before Sunday, Baghdad time), Let us pray for this man and for the conversion of his heart to God. Many brutal murderers experienced the grace of conversion before ascending the gallows. Saddam was spared once from an abortion by the intercession of a Jewish mother. May the Most Holy Theotokos interceded for Saddam Hussein that he may receive the mercy of God and the grace of a full conversion before (or as) he is taken from this life into the next.

Peace,

Gordo

Gordo I had just noticed an article stating three days. My heart kind of lept.

YES! Good God, You who desires that no man perish, grant for this man a complete repentance and relization that you are God. Also, Jesus protect the innocent people of Iraq from the selfish heart of men who would kill and destroy in anger and revenge for the taking of this man's life. Lord in our world all of this is very hard to understand, but what we do understand Jesus is nothing is impossible for you. LORD JESUS CHRIST SON OF THE LIVING GOD, HAVE MERCY ON SADAM AND ALL INVOLVED OR AFFECTED BY THIS OCCASION IN THE HISTORY OF MAN!

Yes we must pray that he repent of the thousands of murders that he has allegedly committed. I offer my prayers through the intercession of the Good Thief St. Dismas that Saddam Hussein may convert and that he not spend eternity in damnation. Lord have mercy on him!

We should pray for the souls of those who were murdered by his regime as well as their families and the people of Iraq. Lord have mercy on them!

Prayers are indeed needed.

We need also to remember all those who suffered death under his regime, and their families.

I understand there have been many who have volunteered to be his executioner - that person will also need prayers - to be volunteering to do this awful deed - legal though it may be - does strike me as being an act of vengeance.

bergs,

I was thinking the Christian faith. He is still a man made in the image of God, and where there is life there is still hope for redemption.

And yes, we need to remember the many thousands of innocents massacred by this brutal dictator.

Lord have mercy.

it is truly sad that this man has come to this fate. it is never an occasion for rejoicing when someone has to pay for his horrendous crimes as must Saddam. after all, the Bible says that all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God, so let's check ourselves, people.it would be great if Saddam converted to Christ in his final moments, however, I think that is highly unlikely. Tarik Aziz, his Foreign Minister, is a purported Christian, and we can all see what kind of witness for Christ he was to his fuehrer. not only Saddam needs pryers, but so do the entire people of Iraq, our fellow Christians amongst the Iraqi people, and our fighting women and men.
Much Love,
Jonn

John,

I still hold out hope that the moment of death is a great mystery and that Christ in His mercy can manifest Himself to the soul even as it transitions out of this life.

It looks like He will face the dread judgement seat of Christ in mere hours...

I think it is always right to pray for another person's soul; no one is beyond the reach of Gods' mercy, even Saddam Hussien. In the natural, it would seem likely that Saddam will repent, even in light of his own understanding of God. Yet, nothing is impossible with God.

As a handful of sand thrown into the ocean, so are the sins of humanity compared to the Mercy of God- St. Isaac the Syrian.

May Christ have mercy on his soul, and on the souls of those who will perish in the aftermath of his execution.

I have offered the Chaplet to the Divine Mercy for Saddam's soul, especially mindful of these words from the Diary of Saint Faustina:

St. Faustina's words: "I often attend upon the dying and through entreaties obtain for them trust in God's mercy, and I implore God for an abundance of divine grace, which is always victorious. God's mercy sometimes touches the sinner at the last moment in a wondrous and mysterious way. Outwardly, it seems as if everything were lost, but it is not so. The soul, illumined by a ray of God's powerful final grace, turns to God in the last moment with such a power of love that, in an instant, it receives from God forgiveness of sin and punishment, while outwardly it shows no sign either of repentance or of contrition, because souls [at that stage] no longer react to external things. Oh, how beyond comprehension is God's mercy! … Although a person is at the point of death, the merciful God gives the soul that interior vivid moment, so that if the soul is willing, it has the possibility of returning to God" (Diary, 1698).

Monksilouan,

Thank you for that beautiful quotation from the holy nun, Saint Faustina.

It appears that there were no outward signs of repentance, but it is in God's hands now.

I pray for peace in Iraq and for an end to this war.

May Saddam experience entenal truth...
May he experience enternal truth.
In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit I bless his soul. For his sake I hope he is not pure evil.

I prayed for Saddam Hussein too: that his soul would be saved. Despite the enormous evil he has done, he is a human being with an immortal soul. Jesus died for him and rose for him as surely as He did for me or anyone else. So, I prayed for his salvation.
