Prayers are indeed needed.
We need also to remember all those who suffered death under his regime, and their families.
I understand there have been many who have volunteered to be his executioner - that person will also need prayers - to be volunteering to do this awful deed - legal though it may be - does strike me as being an act of vengeance.

it is truly sad that this man has come to this fate. it is never an occasion for rejoicing when someone has to pay for his horrendous crimes as must Saddam. after all, the Bible says that all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God, so let's check ourselves, people.it would be great if Saddam converted to Christ in his final moments, however, I think that is highly unlikely. Tarik Aziz, his Foreign Minister, is a purported Christian, and we can all see what kind of witness for Christ he was to his fuehrer. not only Saddam needs pryers, but so do the entire people of Iraq, our fellow Christians amongst the Iraqi people, and our fighting women and men. Much Love, Jonn

John, I still hold out hope that the moment of death is a great mystery and that Christ in His mercy can manifest Himself to the soul even as it transitions out of this life. It looks like He will face the dread judgement seat of Christ in mere hours... http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/12/29/hussein/index.htmlPrayers... Gordo

May Christ have mercy on his soul, and on the souls of those who will perish in the aftermath of his execution.

I have offered the Chaplet to the Divine Mercy for Saddam's soul, especially mindful of these words from the Diary of Saint Faustina:
St. Faustina's words: "I often attend upon the dying and through entreaties obtain for them trust in God's mercy, and I implore God for an abundance of divine grace, which is always victorious. God's mercy sometimes touches the sinner at the last moment in a wondrous and mysterious way. Outwardly, it seems as if everything were lost, but it is not so. The soul, illumined by a ray of God's powerful final grace, turns to God in the last moment with such a power of love that, in an instant, it receives from God forgiveness of sin and punishment, while outwardly it shows no sign either of repentance or of contrition, because souls [at that stage] no longer react to external things. Oh, how beyond comprehension is God's mercy! … Although a person is at the point of death, the merciful God gives the soul that interior vivid moment, so that if the soul is willing, it has the possibility of returning to God" (Diary, 1698).

May Saddam experience entenal truth... May he experience enternal truth. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit I bless his soul. For his sake I hope he is not pure evil.
