The priest at the Orthodox parish just down the road from me has a blog, Glory to God for All Things. His most recent entry was a reflection on the prayer of Jonah from the belly of the whale, and one paragraph in particular hit home as we discuss a liturgy with truncated and eliminated litanies, truncated antiphons, pre-cuts and abridged/non-existent Proskomedia, etc.

Quote:
Neither should we seek to make Church “easier” or more conformed to the age. We’re in the belly of a whale. What we need is to be spewed up onto the land, and not a program for the improvement of whale bellies.

That's a great quote. I've read Fr. Stephen's blog before and enjoyed his writings.
