The new pew book avaiable online says that "everthing as on Pentecost" meaning I presume the complete festal version of the third antiphon and entrance hymn which is in line with other rescensions(instead of the post festal third antiphon and entrance hymn which begin on Pentecost Tuesday). But the new pew book prescribes a different irmos for this day which I have never seen anywhere else. Can anyone comment? Also, which irmos is used the remainder of the Pentecost season?

Thanks, Paul

Check the Pentecostarion. I believe the only complete Pentecostarion available in English - so far - is the Holy Transfiguration Monastery edition.

Dear Paul,

Whereas the irmos for Pentecost Sunday is the ode 9 irmos for the SECOND canon of the feast, the irmos given in the new service book for Pentecost Monday the ode 9 irmos from the FIRST canon of Pentecost - which in turn is the same irmos as the Resurrectional Canon in Tone 7 (the one ordinarily sung at Matins on a Sunday in Tone 7). I'm not sure why this irmos is appointed for this day, but there does seem to be some variation as to what is used on Pentecost Monday at the Divine Liturgy.

Yours in Christ,
Jeff Mierzejewski
