I have had several requests for copies of the Old Testament readings taken at the Vespers and Divine Liturgy of Holy Saturday that I put together last year after years of explaining to volunteer readers where in the Bible their reading starts and ends. A pdf version can be downloaded in this thread. We simply put into a binder on the movable stand set in the middle of the church.
I used the English Standard Version (ESV) for most of the readings only because I like it and it was handy in electronic format when I prepared these readings. I have since been informed that the translators of the ESV did not always live up their goal of avoiding offensive gender neutral language (prohibited by Rome). It might have been better for me to use the RSV-CE, and now the RSV-CE2 is available. Please find my mistakes and let me know so I can fix them.
Last year's Vespers and Basil Liturgy was maybe one of the most moving I've experienced. There was an adult convert received by Chrismation. I was fortunate to be able to assign him the reading from the Prophecy of Isaiah which begins:
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor;
he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor....Anyone who wishes to listen to this Liturgy can do so by
