Kobzarska Sich is held in Emlenton, Pennsylvania
at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Camp Grounds.
This year is dedicated to the 100th anniversary
of Hryhory Kytasty's birth. Hryhory Kytasty
founded Kobzarska Sich in 1979 and over his years
of dedication a generation of young people have
had an opportunity to learn bandura.

Participants will have an opportunity to work
with both Oleh Mahlay (Conductor and Artistic
Director of the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus) and
Julian Kytasty (Artistic Director of the New York
School of Bandura) this year. In addition, two of
the most accomplished bandura players from
Ukraine, Taras Lazurkevych and Oleh Sozansky,
will be returning for the first week of Kobzarska
Sich. Both Sozansky and Lazukevych taught at
Kobzarska Sich in 2006 and toured throughout the
United States and Canada under the duet "Bandurna Rozmova."

-Instruction is in both Ukrainian and English
-Attendees range in age from 12 - 60
-Scholarships are available.
-Students consistently return year after year
-Attendees and staff hail from all over the United States, Canada and Ukraine

In addition to the two-week camp, first week

a kharkiv bandura workshop taught by Oleh
Sozansky and Taras Lazurkevych. Also, Oleh Mahlay
is coordinating a 4-day sacred music course
designed for those that have busy schedules and cannot make one or two weeks.

Sich is so much fun! I so enjoyed my few years there (even as bunchuzhnyi). This is a fantastic learning experience, and quite enjoyable as well. wink
