Daibhidh - the voice from Alba - reminds me of Fergus McGurk. Fergus McGurk was the renegade Irishman who founded Scotland. Both countries were improved.

There has not been any discussion of this topic lately. Does anybody have anything new to report?

All this waiting for the big bomb to go off seems like liturgical terrorism to me.

At the RC church where I play, one gentleman solves the problem by bringing his Latin missal. He reads the creed in Latin while the congregation is saying the ICEL version.

What are the differences between the Revised DL and the English translation of the DL used by the Ukrainian Catholic Church in the US? Does the Ukrainian Catholic English translation have any inclusive language?

Does the new Divine Liturgy apply to all Greek Catholics of Byzantine Rite, i.e., Ukrainian, Ruthenian, Serbian, etc?

Just curious--I noticed significant differences between the Ruthenian and Ukrainian liturgies in particular. Why is the prayer before communion for example shorter than that of the Ruthenian rite?

PS: Regarding the debate on liturgical change: I am one of those RC's who sit in BC pews--it's been a 20 year journey to try and breathe with both lungs, but this sort of banter still suffocates me (Reference the Monks of Mt. Athos statement on the Papal visit to the Ecumenical Patriarchate last year). Wounds run deep, but at what point do our brothers inc Christ seek to mend the Tunica Christi and forgive seven times seventy times? For my part, I loved GC spiritualuty and liturgy, but the overarching reason for my split from latin catholicism to greek catholicism was my own intellectual arrogance, lack of humility, spiritual illness and human stupidity. At the time, the "way" the liturgy was prayed or the irreverence of the people within the church were an irritant and the underlying reason for my march eastward. I still have some issues with the Latin Liturgy--particularly the rather "insufficient" Eucharistic Prayer and the mood of "pop-culture" church--BUT, if I were that upset by its "catholicity" I should have joined the Orthodox. No,truth be told, were my interior light brighter, the passing ship would not have crashed into the rocks along my shore. Unfortunately, sharks live in the reef... we should all be cautious of spiritual pride lest we be devoured from it. Mark.

Yes, there are differences. It has been debated on this forum that the Ukrainian Byzantine Catholic Church and the Ruthenian Byzantine Catholic Church do share a common rencension of the Byzantine Particular Church called "Ruthenian Recension"( which the term "Ruthenian" meaning the "South-West Rus'" Rescension that differs from the Muscovite Great Russian Recension). Many members of the Rutehnian Metropolia are dissappointed that the new revised Divine Liturgy now differs greatly from not only their Ukrainian Byzantine Catholic translation, but their Orthodox brethren translation as well. Most people on this forum are hoping there will come a day when one common cross jurisidictional english translation will be developed by all the Churches (United w/Rome and Orthodox) using the Ruthenian Recension. We pray this will happen, God willing!
