This should get interesting on the Democratic ticket.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/04/22/wgore22.xml

Two other prominent contenders:

At least Mr. Obama has a sense of humor! (and he's at least tolerable to see and listen to for the full year of the campaign after the primaries...)

Go Obama!

Gordo, son of a Barry Goldwater Republican, one time shaker of the hand of Ronaldus Magnus, and currently a Fred Thompson supporter

Edit Reason: Mispelling of name...I was wondering, "who is Algore"?

In the interest of being fair and balanced, here are a few fun pics from the Republican side...

Enjoy!

John "Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran" McCain

Mitt "Mighty (Unlicensed) Hunter" Romney

"Tootie Frootie Arudy" Guiliani...hail to the Chief-ette?!?

and finally...

Fred "Law & Order Strict Constructionist" Thompson

I think it must be too early in the game. I find I'm still not particularly excited. I think the problem is I don't have a great deal of confidence in secular society. And on the other I don't see a strong Christian on the horizon who could get through the primaries. I always did think the expansion of the primary system made things worse than they were when parties selected their own candidates.

But...the pix are nice.

If Al Gore really does run (unlikely) and makes it through the primaries, I'll vote for him regardless of his platform - Bush stole the election in 2000 and we all know it.

Zenovia,

You missed the one of Mitt (a Rambo like character with a shotgun) and Fred Thompson (dressed like one of the founding fathers for some movie or documentary he was in).

Algore looks like a corpse - not quite sure why. He has certainly seemed very unhealthy (physically) lately.

Bless Master!

Difficult to say...I know that I could not do the same for the former Veep.

I will say that I had a marvellous conversation with a former higher up with FEMA (also a Greek Catholic) who was out with the Bush's because of his support of Pat Buchanan several elections ago. He had pictures and letters from George H. W. and Dan Quayle all over his house.

He told me stories about the government that made my head spin. Another friend from the CDC was there (clearly I was swinging somewhere in a DC circle at that particular moment) confirming all of this.

I resolved from that point on not to place my trust in princes...

God bless!

Gordo

PS: Saw the movie "Michael Collins" the other day. Quite interesting...

Ebed,
Maybe they should use that pic of Al for theIR new campaign slogan. "Here's looking at you America!" Or "You better believe in Global Warming: Or else!"

Fr. Serge,

Bless me.

I thought we agreed on everything. I was wrong. I guess that's a good thing. I'm with Gordo, I don't put my trust in princes.

CHRIST IS RISEN!

Dear Carson,

The Blessing of the Lord!

I didn't say I liked Al Gore - under normal conditions (do such conditions exist any more?) I would not even consider voting for either of the two major parties. But I have a strong aversion to people, or political parties, who steal elections.

Trusting in princes is dangerous. On the other hand, Christian monarchy is preferable to this quadrennial exercise in futility. Maybe a write-in campaign for a suitable Hapsburg archduke?

Reminds me vaguely of a dinner I attended during the Philadelphia Eucharistic Congress (good grief! that was over 30 years ago!). Somebody offered a toast to the then President, whoever he was, and I silently passed my wine glass over the water tumbler before taking a sip of wine. To my amazement, a total stranger about six places down the table noticed this, leapt to his feet, and cried out "King Albert, God bless him!". Well, I stood to drink to the King; the gentleman then introduced himself - he turned out to be the chairman of the Royal Stuart Society at Harvard.

Don't believe in something that is not true.

There were five recounts conducted by the media (New York Times, CNN, USA Today, Washington Post, etc.) in conjunction with the Democrat Party. Gore lost all of them.

If Gore had sued for a state wide recount he would have gotten a formal recount. He sued only for a recount in counties that he thought would put him over the top. He lost because he deserved to loose.

Want to blame someone for the close contest in Florida? Blame the media for calling Florida for Gore an hour before the polls closed in the western part of the state. That part of the state is more conservative and thousands of people waiting in line to vote went home because the media called the state for Gore before they voted.

Wait! I have a bridge in Brooklyn that is for sale. Anyone interested?

Honestly that is the worst reason I have ever heard to vote for someone. If you don't like him, you don't believe in his platforms or you don't think he is the best possible candidate then you shouldn't vote for him. What happened in 2000 is done and over with (and having lived in FL at the time I disagree with the "stolen" BS). Voting for Gore because of what happened 8 years ago as a "fix" is absurd.

You may be right at that. But, human beings that we are, we sometimes do things for absurd reasons. If Gore runs, I will vote for him. Though to be honest, I have no particular reason to expect him to run, more's the pity.

This has nothing to do with the merits or defects of Al Gore. My position in the matter has to do with a single issue (my perception that Bush stole the 2000 election - which I continue to believe) for a single possible occasion (another run by Al Gore). If others can vote for a candidate on the basis of a single issue, so can I.
