UC,
My guess is it is a Kievan, Bulgarian or Russian as are a few of the other selections. It may possibly be a Rusyn variant not in Bokshaj.

Rusyn31,
Becasue the Our Father exists in all eight Samohlasen Tones, Podoben Tone 4, and simple chant.

What source is it from? I thought the RDL music was solely based on Bokshai? Never heard any parish sing anything remotely like it.
Ungcsertezs The RDL is not soley based on Bokshai. There are some music arrangements particular to Papp or Ratsin which do not appear in Bokshai.

Fr.Dn Lance,
So the RDL music prints 8 Samohlasen Tones, Podoben Tone 4, and simple chant versions for the "Our Father". Where is the traditional "Otche Nash" version that when sung in Slavonic had the repetitious "Otche Nash" after every line? I know when sung in English the repetition is not used, but it is a version used during the Holy Days of the Nativity of Christ and during the Paschal Sundays. It is odd to leave out such a common rendition for the "Our Father".
Ungcsertezs I thought that version was originally a SATB choir arrangement that became popular (though not out West) in some parishes? Other than recordings, I haven't heard it sung as prostopinije in parishes in the Van Nuys Eparchy.

Can someone tell me on what page in Bokshai's Prostopinije book would one find the RDL page 416 version F for "Baptized into Christ"? Is this a tongue-in-cheek question? I find only version A and B for "All You Who Have Been Baptized Into Christ," and they are on pages 31 and 32. On page 416 of my RDL book is a portion of the prayers for Special Intentions. For every melody, the cantor had to cry out, "page 416 version F", or, "page 44 version C", or, please use Our Father version W or Z or F or G......a train wreck waiting to happen. Eventually, people will have the majority of these melodies memorized, just as they memorized the old ones. Then they won't need to books except for tropars, kondaks, stichera, etc. In the meantime, as I've posted elsewhere, a simple slip of paper available on the greeting table, will solve the problem. Here's the version I used for our last Saturday Vesper Liturgy: VIGIL – 6TH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST
Begin on p. 104 O Lord, I have cried to you – p. 143 (Tone 5) Stichera – p. 143 Holy God - B, p. 28 Prokeimenon and Allelulia – p. 148 (Tone 5) Cherubic Hymn – D, p. 45 Creed – A, p. 51 Holy, Holy, Holy – A, p. 56 We Praise You … - D, p. 59 Magnification – p. 62 Our Father – p. 70 (Tone 5) Communion Hymn – D, p. 79 We have seen the true light – A, p. 82 May our mouth be filled – A, p. 84 BTW, why are there 10 versions of the Our Father in these books? Actually, there are more than 10, since we also have the Paschal Our Father. As you can see from my "bookmark" above, we match the Our Father to the tone of the week. No page numbers were "cried out." BTW, for anyone who is interested, there is included a Version F of the Cherubic Hymn, We Praise You... and Communion Hymn in the new pew book that is the same melody as "Mary Look Upon Us." They would be appropriate, and we plan to use them, during the upcoming Dormition Fast.

Dear Ung-Certez,
Exactly which version of "All you who have been baptized" are you referring to? The green hardbound book has two versions on pages 31-32; the first is Rusyn (p.87 in Bokshai), while the second is a Galician melody found in our own Byzantine Liturgical chant book from 1970 (p. L-13, with an almost identical setting except for the change from "bapTIZED" to "BAPtized.") We sang the latter for years at our parish in Morgantown. There is no setting on page 416 in the Green book that I can find.
Dear Rusyn31,
Since you seem to have heard it, can you identify it any more closely?
Yours in Christ, Jeff
P.S. Quite a few parishes have prepared bookmarks or other helps to remove the need for spoken announcements; the Cantor's Companion specifically recommends AGAINST the latter.

It was the Galician version. Andy Nagrant chanted it as best he could. As for us Rusyns in the congregaion, no one sung it, it was a solo act, as were many of the hymns.
Our church is celebrating its 100th anniversary. There is a Ukrainian Orthodox church across the street (in 1907 it was Ukrainian Catholic) made up of mostly Galicians. Our ancestors went there at first but left and started their own church. The reason we started our own church not more than 100 ft. away is because of those differences between the Rusyn and Ukrainian chants, liturgy, traditions, etc...
Again, the best singing was with the Slavonic Dostojno Jest, and the few others that we are "permitted" to do.
If the Cantor's Companion specifically recommends AGAINST the latter, why is it even in there to begin with?
