Dear all! Glory to Jesus Christ! Many people may not know about Saint Basil's Academy in Garrison, New York. Here is a video http://realserver.goarch.org/ram/en/st_basil_academy.ramabout their work and mission. I am hoping that Father Anthony, one of our administrators will be able to answer questions about Saint Basil's for us, since he is part of the staff. The name of the film is "Saint Basil Academy: A Legacy of Changed Lives" It is hosted by Pat Summerall. They also have a webpage: http://www.stbasil.goarch.orgTake care! Ray

Saint Basil Academy is a ministry of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, in which Orthodox children that are unable to be cared for by their parents, are raised, educated and nurtured by the Church. They are taught not only educationally, but have their emotional, spiritual and physical needs attended to by a highly trained and educated staff. The academy is licensed by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services. All of this is done solely without any public funding, but rather through the generosity of the Philoptochos chapters and the faithful of the archdiocese in support of this vital ministry. There is some retreat work that is done there, but that is secondary as opposed to the main ministry and purpose of the academy.
The website gives a good insight as to the work that is done there, living up to the academy's motto, "We teach, We heal, We bring the Light of Christ to young lives".
In IC XC, Father Anthony+
