Potato pancakes are oftentimes called "kartoflyani plyatske".
As my dearest Ukrainian grandmother used to say: "moya negsdorka maye doozhe dobra recepis dlya barbolyany platske".
[Translation: My next door neighbor has a very good recipe for potato pancakes.]

Pavloosh---that's what the Polish call both of those. May be different in Rusyn.

Nalysnyky as we make them are batter cakes filled with cheese filling rolled up and covered with smetana. The Ukie restaurants in Chicago also make them like this. There are various fillings that can be used.

Like Pavloosh I know potato pancakes by a different name (barabolyany platske).
