Bridge victims remembered

Sacorafas Funeral

Two victims of the I-35W Bridge collapse were remembered and honored on Monday.

A funeral service for 45-year-old Christina Sacorafas was held Monday morning at St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Church in Minneapolis.

Sacorafas was on her way to the church to teach Greek Dance on Wednesday, August 1, when the bridge collapsed.

She had even called the church to say she was stuck in traffic on I-35W just moments before she died.

"She was a very vibrant personality," said Father Paul Paris, of St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Church. "A lovely person who had a radiant smile and was very much a part of the community."

Sacorafas taught traditional Greek folk dances at the church and helped sew dance costumes. Her cousin said she was an "amazing person," once you met her, you loved her.

Another bridge victim was also remembered on Monday.

A Memorial service is also being held for Peter Hausmann of Rosemount.

The 47-year-old father of four was a computer consultant and former missionary who was driving to St. Louis Park to pick up a friend for dinner when he called his wife to complain about gridlock on the interstate.

The 4 p.m. service will be held at St. Joseph's Church in Rosemount, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

His funeral is scheduled at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Eternal memory!

Prayers for the wonderful parish of St. Mary's, for its priests and for the family and friends of Christina.

God bless,

Gordo

PS: The same prayers go for the servant of God, Peter Hausmann. May his memory be eternal!

Prayers for all of those who lost their lives in this tragedy, for the injured survivors, for the affected families, and for the rescuers and recovery workers who risked their lives to save others and to retrieve the dead
