After seeing what our favorite movies are (Flash Gordon being very popular) I'm now curious, what kind bands/artists do other Eastern Christians like?

For me my favorite music is underground punk, heavy metal, and classic rock, my favorite bands include:

-Grade (my favorite band, heres a little sample of their art grin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSKNTVfAumA )
-Led Zeppelin
-Kittie (another sample: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4rzTFR3X2g this is what I listen to to help me sleep)
-Queen
-Thursday
-Rammstien
-Ted Nugent
-Blink 182 (they are mainstream but I don't care)
-Beloved
-Judas Priest
-Iron Maiden
-*ahem*... I really do like Sarah Mclaughlin and Utada Hikaru too.. but uh lets keep that here on the off topic forum blush

My favorite non-Classical bands and singers are foreign. French (or French-Canadian), Greek, Arabic and Japanese pop/rock, some jazz.

I listen to the music for the melody and, unless it is a bit older, I don't listen to music for the lyrics.

OK, now that I've said my Rosary I can answer this question.

Led Zeppelin. Page has been my biggest influence as a guitar player.
Johnny Winter. Seeing him on Don Kirschner's Rock Concert in 1973 is what made me take up guitar.
Deep Purple. Blackmore's another of my favorites.
Pogues. Got me into mandolin and banjo.
Dexys Midnight Runners
The Doors
Cream
Emerson Lake And Palmer
Brian Setzer Orchestra
Chicago. Love Kath's guitar work.
Jethro Tull
Spiders From Mars
Rory Gallagher
Cat Stevens
Early Rolling Stones
The Who
Yes
Thin Lizzy
Jimi Hendrix
Blue Oyster Cult
Ted Nugent

Actually I have music by Alex Avramovici and Teodor Munteanu, who despite being Romanian, play alot of Greek folk music, and in the near future I hope to purchase a bouzouki. Looking at one now for $499

Actually, if you look at this link, it has nothing to do with Greek folk music. They are a group of heavenly voices who sing all the Orthodox services in English.

(The bouzouki is great and I love it...it has an interesting history--it was brought to Greece in the early part of the 20th century by refugee Greeks of Asia Minor (Turkey), and was not considered 'Greek' music, until being mainstreamed in the early '60's by greats like Mikis Theodorakis and Hadjithakis who wrote Zorba the Greek, but you still won't hear it in the Greek Orthodox Church! LOL! --There is no such thing as bouzouki liturgies! wink )
