[quote=John Damascene] We have mandated music that is so bad you have to laugh at so you don't begin to cry at what was lost.

As a musician who has compared the new settings with those found in the 1906 Prostopinije and the 1933 Irmologion, I find the new settings very good and very singable. I have also found that the only people who disagree with me are those who don't read music and have trouble singing musically. Translations aside, I think the new book is good. Tim Woods

I disagree with you. I read, play, and sing--for about 38 years.
But then I can only speak for myself.

That's fine. I welcome your disagreement. But what are you basing your disagreement on? If you compare the new settings and the 1970 Levkulic Chant book with the 1906 Prostopinije, what we sang from 1970 until last year wasn't even close to the "tradition".
