I received a request from a member of the forum (defreitas) to ask for your prayers while he and two other parishioners of St. Elias in Brampton, Ontario, are on a 500 year old pilgrimage in Sao Miguel (Azores). They begin on Saturday and walk for seven days around the whole island, from 4 am until 6 pm every day, praying without ceasing the whole time. It is like a traveling monastery. They are fed and given lodging by pious people in the towns they pass through on their journey.

Please pray for Jose, Cyril, and Aidan, along with the other brothers on the pilgrimage.

(Here is a link to a video from one of the North American "Romeiros" (Toronto) last year. [
] If you ever have a chance to attend this pilgrimage, you will not be able to forget it. It is an amazingly prayerful experience.)

Prayers for our friends and brothers in Christ indeed Daniil!

Here in Toronto at our great Portuguese Church there is a copy of the miraculous "Senor Santo Cristo" Ecce Homo image that is venerated by the Azoreans.

One may readily see not only the Portuguese flag here but also the Azorean flag with the "Azore" bird after which the islands are named.

The name always reminds me of my grandfather's little dog, "Aza" who loved him so much that she once threw herself at a rabid dog trying to bite him until Fr. John was safely away. She contracted rabies and in the old country at that time it meant death for Aza.

We named our dog "Azor" after her.

awesome!

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Jose (from whom we haven't seen a post in a while) has written of this pilgrimage previously. May he and his companions be safe and spiritually enriched by this holy act and may God grant them many years.

"One day all our ethnic traits ... will have disappeared. Time itself is seeing to this. And so we can not think of our communities as ethnic parishes, ... unless we wish to assure the death of our community."
