Now became true. The Occident is guilty for this.

Lawrence--let's be fair...it is not just this administration, but all administrations.

Anyway, this is not good news, and shame on the U.S. for supporting this.

I have no idea what the U.S.A. and the West thought. That Kosovo is like a wasps' nest. The criminality etc is high.

Unfortunately, the US are too cynical. Hand by hand together with Russia, no doubt. Personally, I will never travel to the USA, unless I have the chance to visit a few souls. The USA are in deep moral decline. It is not true that is a Christian nation. Not at all.

I am sad in fact to see that a part of Serbia is simply broken and stolen. frown

May God protect and bless the Serbian nation. Amin.

Well, there will be a price.

I wouldn't be surprised if what most Americans know about Serbia is that it was the cause of World War I. Later, it seems that the former Yugoslavia broke apart into little warring tribes that tried to kill each other. It's not an area of the world most Americans think about very often. As to why our current or former administrations have chosen to be involved in it is beyond explanation.

As a proud member of one of the little warring tribes in question, I assure you that they've been trying to kill one another for hundreds of years. Once Slovenia declared independence, it was only a matter of time before everyone else did.

It certainly appears true that folks in that area seem to despise each other. Kind of like the Irish of eastern Europe, perhaps? wink I just read an article that mentioned two million, I believe, Albanians in Kosovo. For my own information, how did all those Albanians end up in Serbia?

Alice

I agree it is not just this administration that is guilty. President Clinton opened the door for this whole tragedy when he authorized the bombing of Serbia and Kosovo in 1999.

George W Bush is already on record as supporting independence for Kosovo, and American recognition should come in the near future. This means once again that while this administration continues to warn us of the dire threat posed by Al-Qaeda, and how we must surrender more and more of our civil liberties and prepare to attack other countries, we will recognize and support a rogue state heading by a terrorist by the name of Hashim Thaci, who has been involved in murder, kidnapping, drug dealing and prostitution, and who's Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) has ties to Osama Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda. I'll say it again, the War On Terror is just a subterfuge for America to advance it's anti-Christian globalist agenda.

Albanians have been in Kosovo since 15th Century when both they and Serbs were Christian. After Ottomans took over, Albanians became Muslim to avoid Dhimmitude and Serbs went to Belgrade but returned a few C. later. I'm sure others have better info than I; I'm Slovenian, and in Ljubljana, there is an area called Bezigrad (flee castle) which my classmates said was the direction in which the Turks fled the castle in their unsuccessful takeover bid.

Interesting reading I had seeing the online edition of New York Times.

Too sad. So warmish. Prudence and moderation. I remember the style named wooden tongue in the communism.

This matter was made outside the Security Council. I think that it is a crossroad, and Russia will be free to play. The US seem to be rather cynical and a period of chaos will come.

Why am I so concerned? Because I lived under communism as well and I know the lack of freedom, the insecurities and the black horizon.

Cui bono? Cui prodest?

What interests have the USA?

It is my understanding that most of the Albanian Christians adopted the Bogomil heresy and were persecuted for this by orthodox (small 'o') Christianity. Thus when the Ottomans came, they found Islam more in-line with their beliefs than orthodox Christinity and converted. Is this correct?

BTW, anyone who hasn't should read Rebecca West's Black Lamb & Grey Falcon: A Journey through Yugoslavia. This is considered by many to be the finest work of non-fiction from the first half of the 20th Century.

Today the US recognized the independence of Kosovo, and Serbia recalled it's ambassador to the US http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7251802.stm

Popular media sources concerning Serbia, Kosovo, etc. always state that the Serbians persecute the Albanians. I have never seen evidence of persecution of Albanian Muslims, is it true?

I see videos of Albanian Muslims destroying Serbian Orthodox Churches on You Tube, but I have never seen anything that would justify bombing of Serbian people by the US and NATO.

From the news reports I have read, Putin and the Communist Chinese have both threatened war over this Kosovo situation. especially if the USA recognized Kosovo.

Lord have mercy.

The Vatican should maybe rattle some sabres and call for something other than prudence and moderation?
