My spiritual father (a benedictine monk) will travel to Israel and he would like to know the adresses of the israeli melkite churches. Could someone send them, please?

See: http://www.mliles.com/melkite/indexmelkiteotherholylandparishes.shtml . There are at least twenty named. That should be an embarras du choix!

Philippe,

One caution as to the list to which Matta linked - I don't know how current Martha's listings are (Martha Lilies is the owner of the Melkite Info Center site). I haven't visited the site recently and haven't received any e-mails from her of late, so I'm unsure how active she and the site are at present.

There are about 30 parishes in the Archeparchy of St John of Acre, Haifa, Nazareth, and All Galilee and about a dozen in the Patriarchal Dependency of Jerusalem. I think that I have a relatively current list somewhere, but will need to locate it. When does he leave for Israel?

Many years,

Neil

Thank you very much, Matta and Neil!

Neil, he leaves in November. The adresses of the churches in Jerusalem will be nice too.

I'd sent an e-mail for Msgr Pierre Mouallem, the Emerit Bishop of Galilee (and of Brazil too), and he told me to ask for my Bishop the adresses, since he has sent to Msgr Farès (the mine) a liturgical calendar with them. But I think it would be a hard work for my Bishop to sent them to me.

Then, through Martha Lile's website, I sent now an e-mail for the office of the Bishop of Galilee, Msgr Elias Chacour.

I like Martha Lile's website. However, is it any wonder if she's updating it?

Either ways, are there pictures of the Melkite churches in Rome?

The ancient papal residence, Santa Maria in Cosmedin is the Melkite Church of Rome. Pictures on line abound since it is the site also of a famous tourist attraction, the Bocca della Verita`. While in Rome don't neglect the Russicum church behind Santa Maria Maggiore and the Greek College Church (Sant'Atanasio) down the street from the Spanish Steps. Above all, on Sunday evening they (the Sant'Egidio community) celebrate a Byzantine Divine Liturgy at Santa Maria in Trastevere. Not to be missed!

Phillippe,

The next time I see one of them, I'll ask if perhaps Sayednha Cyril or Sayednha John has a list. Will let you know.

Collin,

I'll try and get an e-mail off to Martha. I'm on an e-mail list that she uses when she gets inquiries from folks and needs some help with answers, but I haven't heard from her in a while - that's what makes me wonder if she's still keeping active with the site.

Many years,

Neil

Thanks Neil. Her site is too good of a resource site for Melkites. I'd hate to see it go to waste.
