I would like to request everyone's prayers for the nearly 800 people who lost their lives when a passenger ship (MV Princess of the Stars) sank in the seas of the central Philippines last Saturday. The ship keeled over so fast that very few were able to escape. There is now little hope that more survivors could be found (40 out of 823 so far).

I hope that priests, deacons and monks here could remember their souls in their prayers and liturgies.

Many of those who died were children. The media has also reported that some people lost all their families when the ship sank. It is truly a national disaster for us.

More than a hundred fishermen and at least a hundred more people are missing due to strong waves and flash floods that swept through my country.

My humble prayers for the souls lost (may our Lord have mercy on their souls--especially those who were not prepared to meet their death), the families suffering and mourning, and the country of the Philippines...

I have met many good, God fearing and humble people from this country...May their strong faith in God help them through this national tragedy.

Kyrie Eleison!!!

In Christ,
Alice

May God have mercy on all those who perished in this sea tragedy and comfort and solace to those who survived!

It brings again to mind similar disasters in the past where overloading was the main contributory cause.
